David graduated from Newcastle University Medical School in 1991 and after four years in the Hunter Valley Hospital owned a practice on the North Coast of NSW. As a country GP, he participated in the Emergency Department calls at the local hospital. David also served with the RAAF for 13 years, deploying four times overseas and was decorated for bravery in 2004. He is an examiner for the RACGP and ACRRM as well as an expert reviewer for the Australian Journal of General Practice. He is an accredited GP supervisor. A keen SCUBA diver, he is a diving medical examiner. He also consults to several community groups on the end of life issues.
