Julie Mundy-Taylor


Dr Julie Mundy-Taylor is a passionate advocate of the value of oral storytelling for children and for adults. She has been a professional story teller for 25 years and is an Accredited Teller with the Australian Storytelling Guild (NSW).

Julie is a Research Librarian at the University of Newcastle and she completed her PhD from the University of Newcastle in 2013 with her thesis “Storytelling engagement in the classroom.” http://hdl.handle.net/1959.13/939911 It remains one of only six Australian doctorates focusing on oral storytelling. Julie is a co-host of Long Story Short – Storytelling Live a monthly storytelling performance event on the Central Coast; and co-founder of Caravan of Stories a co-operative of international professional storytellers. She regularly tells stories at universities, schools, festivals, conferences, team-building days and community events.

Julie offers a vast repertoire of stories ranging from myth, folktales, historical and personal, gathered over 30 years of storytelling and a doctoral study on storytelling.
